Bathing Buddha Ceremony or "Um Phra Dam Nam" is a religious tradition that have been practiced for long time. The ceremony is held annually during September each year in Phetchaboon province.
At the start of the ceremony, the Buddha Statue is carried around town and put under a tent for buddhists to pay respect and to stick gold leaf on the body of Buddha Statue.
In the evening, people come to give a prayer. At night, there are various kinds of entertainment.
The most spectacular moment is to "Bath the Buddha". The Buddha statue is taken to immersed in the Pasak river by the local governor of Phetchaboon. It is the sacred belief that such act will brings happiness and fertility to the province.
