Loy Krathong Festival
Loy Krathong Festival is one of the most dazzling festival in Thailand.
"Loy" means "to float", Krathong is a circular floating objects decorated with beautiful flowers and a candle and incense sticks.
Each year the Loy Krathong festival does not run on the same date, but the date is determined by the Lunar Calendar. Loy Krathong festival is celebrated on full moon night of the twelfth lunar month. This year, 2009, the date falls upon Monday 2 November.
Couples are looking forward to launching the "Krathong" together to predict the romance future by the direction the Krathongs float.
There are many places in Bangkok that will be holding the celebration.
Popular places for Loy Krathong evening include Chao Phraya River, Rama IIX Bridge, Santichaiprakan Park on Phra Artit Road, Benjasiri Park or Queen's Park on Sukhumvit Road, Benjakiti Park on Ratchada Pisek Road and other waterways and universities.
